May 9, 2023 (Birmingham, AL) –  Addicus Private Equity, LLC announces the name and concept for its new boutique hotel to open in the Automotive Historic District of Birmingham. The Painted Lady occupies the old Eyer-Raden Building, nestled in the revitalized Battery development steps aways from new restaurants. Addicus Private Equity is partnering with hospitality veteran, Lark Hotels, to oversee the management of the 22-room hotel.

The hotel is carefully recrafted featuring a well-known, hotel affiliated coffee shop in the lobby, along with a unique local stylish bar and brewery. Painted Lady is currently undergoing a full renovation and redesign and will welcome its first guests in early Fall 2023.

The Painted Lady is named for the legend “Louise Curtis” who operated a boarding house in the upper floors of the building. Louise C. Wooster, became a local celebrity when her selfless work as a nurse in the city’s cholera wards went public in the 1870’s. After which she published a memoir that was equal parts memory, fable, cautionary tale, and poetic ramble.

The Painted Lady recalls Birmingham’s tumultuous past and looks forward to its next chapter with Louise’s characteristic optimism. Within the walls that once concealed passionate secrets and scandalous rumors, guests can revisit this storied character and write their own Birmingham legend.

“Addicus is proud to bring this charming, historic gem to life and celebrate Birmingham’s rich history. The Battery district will be a must visit destination, with a variety of retail and culinary offerings.” said Tarik Bilalbegovic, Director of Private Equity at Addicus.

"As an homage to Louise Wooster, The Painted Lady will celebrate what it means to be an individualist, bringing her bravery and penchant for the truest hospitality to life in the Birmingham of today," said Rob Blood, Founder of Lark Hotels. "The creative growth and revitalization of Birmingham drew us into the city, a new market for Lark Hotels, and we're thrilled to work with our partners here to welcome travelers to such a storied destination, while expanding Lark's signature hospitality and independent spirit throughout the Southeast."
